Art is a wonderful visual expression that I am unquestionably passionate about. It allows me to explore a world that I can represent in any medium I exhibit in. Having two parents as artists, I am fortunate to be flooded with a creative environment everyday. Being an artist has exposed how I not only perceive my creation, but how the viewer can compose their own discussion by viewing it.  In the course of time, I like to set myself from boundaries and explore through new innovative and visionary concepts.  I know that The School of the Art Institute of Chicago will guide me to explore new techniques and styles, and I will be adept in my skills in the fine arts.
I have illustrated posters for local bands and sold a chalk pastel piece for $750 while visiting NYC. In the summer of 2016, I received a full ride scholarship to The Tennessee Governor's School for the Arts, and had the honor of working with a team of professionals. This four week program prepared me for the future, by living on a campus and learning new approaches on painting and how to make a sketchbook more aesthetically pleasing. Outside of school I like to concentrate on pieces that aren't assignment based. Since I missed out on a whole semester of art (before my Governor's School audition) I had to figure out a way to develop a portfolio at home. This helped me understand the importance of accomplishing out of class work and using time wisely. Also,I like to show the viewer that I can explore different techniques and genres
of art; such as impressionism vs. surrealism and real vs. abrstact.
My art shows the embodiment of how the paint is showing feeling/sensation/pain/excitement by how my style is layed out.
"If you are sufficiently tenacious and interested, you can accomplish what you want to accomplish in this world," Alice Neel. Alice Neel has always been an inspiration to me, not only because she is a female painter, but how she uses her style to reveal different emotions through her portraits. I. This is an incredible example on why SAIC is the institution that will provide me with art from acclaimed artists from different styles and time periods, with the art institute museum being right there. Having an illustrious museum on sight, will be a an amazing honor to further my knowledge of art history and will be influential to my work in the studio, just like Alice Neel has influenced my work and I. Studying and discovering artists in the museum and even faculty will be an incredible distinction to my admission into SAIC.
Art is what I love to do and I feel as if I am safe and warm with creativity, like a baby swaddled in a blanket when I create.  I want my art to not only take me to a fantasy, but to the reality that is the next four years at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
